You can use Microsoft® Windows Media® Player to play and organize digital media files
on your computer, to play and copy CDs, create your own CDs, play DVDs, and copy music and
videos. You can also use the Player to listen to radio stations from all over the world.
- Select Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Windows

To copy Song Tracks from a Web site to your computer
- The web site will have information on the workflow they want you to follow.
The easiest way to save files from a website to your computer is to highlight the link,
right click and select Save As.
Once the process is done, the file is on your computer, wherever you specified.
The time it will take to download the files depends mainly on the connection's speed.
- If desired, you can set the file type options of your WMP to open all the file types
listed in the File types list (asf, wma, wmv, avi, wav, mpeg, mp3, midi, aiff, au...)
To do so select Tools menu, click Options, and then
click the File Types tab, then clisk on Select All.
To Copy Song Tracks from a Music CD to your computer
- Place the CD with the songs in the CD drive
For example Audio CD (E)
- Open the Windows Explorer and Explore the CD
You will see for example:
Track01.cda, Track02.cda, Track03.cda, Track04.cda... and so on...
- Open Window Media Player (Version 9 if possible)
or double click on the Track01.cda to open WMP
- Select the button Copy from CD located on the left side of the Window

The WMP will show you a list of the Titles existing on the CD you inserted.
Select the Title(s) you want to copy by selecting the check box next to the tracks.
Note:
The songs will be copied on your computer in the folder indicated in
the Windows Media Player Options dialog box.
The default is C:\Documents and Settings\dgschnei\My Documents\My Music. If you want to
change the location folder of the command Copy Music, from within the Media Player select
Tools > Options > Copy Music > Change.
Then select where you want the songs to be copied on your machine.
For example: D:\dgschnei\CD\CopiedMusics
- Select the button Copy Music
Wait for the copying process to be done... copying... converting...
Check the Status from 0% to 100% of the completion
(this should not take more than 1 minute per song depending of the processor speed, the CD
drive of your PC, and the quality of the output selected in the Options.
- Once the Copy Status indicates Copied to Library
The song track selected will be located in your Music folder.
For example:
C:\Documents and Settings\YourLoginName\My Documents\My Music\Unknown Artist\Unknown Album
(10-27-2003 4-49-10 PM)\02 02 Track 2.wma
Note: You can change the location where the audio files are stored.
To change the location select from the WMP interface:
On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Copy Music tab.
Select the Change button to specify where you would prefer have the audio
stored when you copy them from a CD.
At that point the selected and copied songs are now on your PC with a WMA extension
(Windows Media Audio).
To Copy Song Tracks from your computer to a blank CD
Create music CDs similar to those you buy.
The Player converts tracks into .cda files to copy them to the compact disc.
Audio CDs can play in most computers and in home and car CD players that play CD-R and
CD-RW discs.
- Open Windows Media Player and Select the menu File > Open
- Browse and select the WMA, MP3, WAV file(s) you want to copy on the blank CD
- Select the button Copy to CD or Device from the left panel of the Window

Select the songs you want to copy on the CD by placing a checkmark next to the
desired titles.
- Select the button Copy from the Window Media Player
This button is located in the top right corner of the interface of WMP
The WMP will first convert the songs, then the copy process will start.
If there is no blank CD in the drive, the system will ask you to insert one.
During the CD creation process for audio CDs, the Player automatically converts the files
to .cda files before copying them to the CD.
Note:
Use the Copy to CD or Device button to copy audio and video files from
Media Library to your portable device or storage card.
