NetMeeting and Connecting Using IP Addresses

To set up a webcam using an FTP address of your choice.
When buying a webcam be certain it offers the capability to connect directly to IP addresses. (Do not buy a webcam that does not offer this feature.)
Do not buy a webcam that forces you to install and register another software and forces you to broadcast on a server.
If for security reasons you have to go through firewalls, there may be problems using Netmeeting.
An IP (Internet Protocol) address is a series of 4 numbers separated by points.
There are 2 types of IP addresses:
Dedicated IP (the IP address is always the same everytime you log on to the Internet)
Dynamic IP (if your service provider is assigning you a random IP address each time you log on).
In the case of Dynamic IP you need to communicate with E-mail prior to finding each other on the Internet to start a video conferencing session.
To find the IP address you currently have
If you are using NetMeeting it is very simple:
Start NetMeeting, go to Help and then select About Windows NetMeeting. (You IP address will be listed at the bottom of the dialog box named "About Windows NetMeeting".
If you are using Win95, press the START button and enter WINIPCFG.EXE
In WinNT, XP go to a DOS prompt and enter IPCONFIG.EXE.
